Sewer Drain Technician
Position Overview
The Sewer Drain Technician performs a variety of skilled work involving the cleaning, maintenance, and repair of residential and light commercial drain and sewer systems. This position requires technical expertise, safety awareness, and strong communication skills to ensure customer satisfaction while adhering to all company policies and applicable state and local regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and clear blockages in drain and sewer lines using cable machines, hydro jetters, and other approved tools.
- Conduct video camera inspections to identify issues such as cracks, root intrusion, or collapsed pipes.
- Provide accurate assessments and recommendations for repair, replacement, or maintenance services.
- Prepare and complete work orders, service tickets, and related documentation accurately and timely.
- Communicate professionally with customers, explaining findings and service options.
- Safely operate company vehicles, tools, and equipment in compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned vehicle, tools, and work areas.
- Participate in required safety meetings and ongoing job-related training.
- Adhere to all Allbritten policies, including attendance, dress code, and code of conduct requirements.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in plumbing or drain cleaning (residential preferred).
- Valid California driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as required by company policy.
- Ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service.
Preferred:
- Experience with hydro jetting and sewer camera inspections.
- Familiarity with trenchless sewer repair methods.
- Knowledge of California plumbing codes and local safety regulations.
- Plumbing certification or equivalent training.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Regularly required to stand, walk, crouch, kneel, crawl, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds on a regular basis. Must be able to work in confined spaces and in varying temperatures and weather conditions. Frequent driving to customer locations within the Fresno area and surrounding communities.
Work Environment
Work performed indoors and outdoors, in residential and light commercial settings. Exposure to noise, dust, dirt, fumes, and varying weather conditions. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety policies and Cal/OSHA standards.
Employment Classification and Status
This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and California wage and hour laws, meaning employees are eligible for overtime pay in accordance with state and federal requirements. Employment with Allbritten is at-will, which means either the employee or the company may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice, in compliance with applicable law.
